Playful, emotionally driven illustrations that feel like a visual playground.
Phil Huelz is an illustrator based in Cologne, Germany, working across analog and digital media. His creative practice includes playful marker drawings, detailed stencil work, and vibrant digital illustrations — often merging bold linework with cartoonish character design and emotionally resonant symbols.
Born with a heart condition, Phil frequently uses the heart as a recurring motif: a visual reminder of vulnerability, resilience, life and human connection. His compositions are built on high-contrast forms and expressive color choices, reflecting a visual language that balances emotion with a sense of narrative play.

For me, art is personal. It's a heart thing — literally
I create playful, emotionally driven illustrations and art that often feel like a kind of visual playground. My work explores themes like love, heartbreak, connection, music, violence, friendship, and betrayal — but always through a fun, approachable lens.
I'm deeply inspired by graffiti and underground hip hop, their raw energy and creativity. I grew up sketching, hanging out at the skatepark, and listening to old-school hip hop. These influences still shape my style and mindset.
I want my work to feel alive. I'm not trying to impress people; I want to connect. And if someone sees a piece and feels even just a little more understood or less alone, then it's done what it needed to do.
Bold, eye-catching poster designs for events, brands, and personal projects.
Cartoonish, expressive characters with personality and emotional depth.
Physical installations and limited-edition art pieces that translate emotion into space.
